  1. There is a jail cell in this kids future. These parents have a huge problem, I wonder if they know it?

  2. 1) Not only will Luke stand trial for assault and battery, but also he can be sued for damages by the victim of his verbal and physical abuse. If his parents have homeowners insurance, well, there’s a very deep pocket. So even though the dining hall manager was humiliated, in the end he will likely be make whole.

    2) Only one student stood between Luke and the dining hall staff (and later walked away). This speaks poorly of University of Connecticut’s student body. A ring of students should have locked arms and surrounded him – an intervention of sorts. Instead, a fellow dining hall employee stopped Luke’s violence (6:16).

    3) The campus police did not arrive until 8:00 (of the video). Perhaps they weren’t notified earlier (again speaks poorly of the student body). Perhaps they just took their time arriving. Parents of enrollees and high school seniors should look at this video and question the university administration about their preparedness for campus unrest.

  3. Um, I don’t believe that the statement “administrators and faculty promote a culture of entitlement in their students” is accurate in this case. This student obviously got his entitlement issues through lazy parents who did a bad job of parenting. He’s barely old enough to have been in college long enough to gain anything from his professors, let alone a sense of entitlement.

  4. What a scumbag. Noting but an entitled little punk who thinks he rules the world. Enjoy your prosecution and conviction, jackasss! Enjoy being expelled from college and having to explain your arrest on every job application you ever submit! And props to the manager and employees for being so patient with this drunken clown- they were far more patient than I would have been.

  5. poor guy just wanted some mac and cheese. he was being an asshole but did nobody else think the cafeteria staff used excesiive force? they’re not police…

    1. No, they subdued a drunken kid who was assaulting an innocent person. I wouldn’t have objected to the manager wiping his clock, and I don’t think he’d have been charged if he had, but what they did was a defensive move to keep the assailant from inflicting further injury.

  6. Many years ago I had an entitled female run her mouth at me. Since I couldn’t hit a female, I beat her tool boyfriends ass in front of her. Looking around that dining hall, I see many others who could use a beating.

    1. > Since I couldn’t hit a female, I beat her tool
      > boyfriends ass in front of her.

Wow, what a he-man! Err, I mean, “asshole”.

  7. Someone should’ve stepped in and knocked this kid out as soon as he started making fun of that guys job. I don’t think the kid realized that the man he assaulted, is the one who makes the mac and cheese. This kid is a disrespectful little punk and should be put in counseling.

  8. Bad kid, bad parents. My guess is you would want to spend as much time with his parents as you would with that kid.

  9. …aaaaaaand he’s been booted out of UConn.

He’s a crappy little weasel who needs a good beat-down and maybe some jail time. He has a bit of a history for such a young punk:

Gatti was arrested twice last September when he was a student at the University of Massachusetts.

According to the police report, Gatti “raised his left hand in a ‘Hook-em-horns-‘ like gesture and shouted f**k you n****r” at an officer. Police said he then yelled “I said f*** you, so f*** you” at the officer and “began to flail his arms and jump up and down.” He was ordered to pay a $100 fine and put on probation for four months.

He was back in court on September 15 after he was arrested for allegedly causing a scene when police were trying to break up a loud party. MassLive.com reported at the time that Gatti was charged with disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer.

Police said when they arrived at the party, Gatti “was repeatedly screaming ‘F**k you! F**k you, you f*****g asshole pig!’ while gesturing his middle fingers with both hands at Officer Harris.” Gatti was taken into custody and to police headquarters. When the officers tried to get him out of their transport vehicle he, “kicked Sgt. (redacted) striking him in the leg with his foot.”

  10. I see a re-occuring theme here. It’s pretty evident he cant drink. It’s off to rehab for you Lucas. If you were smart you would do the program…before you ruin your life.

  11. It’s a shame. If he had wanted a sandwich or a hamburger this thing wouldn’t have gone viral and he could have gone on to live a normal life. It’s always the freshmen who get arrested because they haven’t learned to scram when the cops are on their way.

I don’t know if he’s a horrible brat, a Dr Jekyll and Mr Drunk, or just a teenager who shouldn’t be living away from home. His parents need to keep him home, send him to community college for a couple of years, then let him venture out on his own again and see how he does.

    1. John: Imagine that manager is your brother, or dad, or uncle. Through this thought experiment you may come to agree with me that the force used against that guy was anything but excessive. Or you may not — I don’t like seeing people choked either. But I will argue those who shove food court managers deserve instant justice in the public square.

Nemo: Brats throw temper tantrums — they don’t shove strangers. As far as not living away from home, that’s probably accurate. But he lost his teenager card once he turned 18. Now he’s just another soul out in the big bad world. If he has character and good people around him he’ll be fine. Otherwise he probably has about a 80% chance at this point of being either dead or incarcerated by 2020.

      1. I think that my uncle, brother, dad or what have you would have coped with it quite well, secure in the knowledge that the cops were on their way and that the young fellow would soon be hustled off to the drunk tank.

The kid won’t be dead or incarcerated. He’s rich. This incident will be the one glitch in his otherwise charmed life. I really should be happier about it.

Nineteen is still teenage. His father should probably talk with the boy’s pediatrician about his behavior problems.
