According to a police officer on the scene, the CUPD got a call around 8:40 about a giant tree that had fallen right in the middle of the Arts Quad. Cornell Review Reports were on the scene by 9:40, at which point the wreckage of the massive tree had already been roped off and surrounded by yellow tape. The police officer told Review reporters that, judging by the root structure, the tree seemed pretty old, but the wind over the past several days had also probably contributed to its collapse. Nobody was hurt. There are currently no plans in place for removing the tree from the middle of the quad, but the police officer said that chain saws will probably be brought in tomorrow to start dismantling it. If you have a chance to stop by the quad tomorrow, I definitely recommend you check it out. It is quite the sight.
