Just another Saturday night at Cornell.
Your correspondent happened upon a mass of three hundred inebriated students strewn across the parking lot, lawn, and street outside of a fraternity house on West Campus near Noyes Community Center. There were a few police cars flashing lights in the parking lot and, for a while, two fire trucks.
The people gathered outside seemed generally in high spirits. One student reported that the police were there because of a fire hazard call. No more details could be secured.
Most likely, all the attendants were Cornell or other college students. However, many of them appeared to be quite young and possibly were of high school age.
As the mass slowly dispersed, many ran into the street, Campus Road, despite ongoing two-way traffic that included emergency vehicles.
Across the street, a group of students could be heard yelling “Get a life! F*** the police!”
After about ten minutes, your correspondent decided to leave.
