The Network of Enlightened Women (NeW), a national collegiate conservative women’s organization, has crowned Cornell Republicans’ Brandon Thompson Gentleman of the Year.
Each year, different chapters of NeW, as well as individuals, nominate college-age men for the Gentlemen Showcase. After nine days of voting, a winner is chosen. This year, there was also a contest for gentlemen under 30 and another for celebrity gentlemen.
Brandon, the nominee for Cornell’s chapter of NeW, received a record number of votes, says Alyssa Condrey, NeW’s Director of Programs, racking in over 2,000.
This is Cornell’s second victory in the national competition of gentlemanliness. In 2013, Alfonse Muglia, then editor-in-chief for The Cornell Review, won the competition.
