This case originally began in 2002 when ILR Professor Margaret Sipser Leibowitz was denied a contract extension, which she claimed was due to age and sex discrimination:
Leibowitz claimed that Cornell’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, its dean and other school officials discriminated against her when the school decided not to renew her contract as a senior extension associate in 2002. She had worked as a professor in one of the school’s extension offices since 1987 and received notification in July 2002 that her contract would not be renewed because of budget exigencies, according to court documents.
Separate charges that she filed against former Associate Deans and an ILR Dean were dropped before the beginning of the trial. More here.
