The Cornell Review asked fellow student and top ten finalist Joanna Guy about what her experience was like in the Miss America pageant. According to Guy:
“I had the time of my life in Las Vegas and having the opportunity to compete in the final competition on Saturday night was the icing on top of a remarkable 10 days. Performing on the Planet Hollywood stage was quite a rush and I’m so thankful that I had the opportunity to sing. I’m also very grateful to Amway and the Miss America Organization for the $13,000.00 in scholarship that I earned through my top ten placement, quality of life award, and preliminary talent award. Scholarship is the fundamental precept of the Miss America Organization, and certainly the reason I initially began competing. I am excited for Mallory, and know that she is going to excel at the job of Miss America. She was one of my good friends throughout the week in Las Vegas and fully deserving of the win.”
