The Cornell Review, is co-sponsoring a free speech event on Thursday, April 10 at 5:30 p.m. at Landis Auditorium at the Cornell Law School. The event is open to the public and is also sponsored by the Cornell Chapter of the Heterodox Academy, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and Cornellians United For Free Speech.
For decades, Floyd Abrams was a leading advocate in the courts for a broad interpretation of the First Amendment. His work was captured in “Speaking freely,” a one-hour biographical documentary that aired on PBS. The event will show that documentary.
Afterwards, Ross Marchand, Program Counsel, Policy Reform for FIRE and Robert C. Platt ‘73 Law ‘76 of Cornellians United will discuss the film and how it relates to free speech issues currently pending on the Cornell campus. Light refreshments and a reception will follow the discussion.
