Since beginning regular print publication on Aug. 28, the Cornell Daily Sun has run about 35 articles in its opinion section. Seven of them have mentioned Donald Trump, with two featuring his name in their titles.
In other words, 20% of the Sun’s editorial output has focused on Donald Trump, effectively making him the most important topic in the minds of Daily Sun opinion writers and editors.
Just today, the Sun’s opinion section featured “Conspiracy Theories and Donald Trump” by Jake Forken ’15 (14 mentions of Trump) and “Good Spam and Politics” by Rubin Danberg Biggs ’17 (1 mention). The former is merely a basic regurgitation of all that is said 24/7 on cable news about Trump and his impact on the 2016 race, whereas the latter mentions Trump as part of an anecdote.
