Bill Nye “the Science Guy” ’77 might have had a semi-popular kids science show in the ’90s, but he’s probably more well-known now as a man-made climate change alarmist. The Review has covered some of Nye’s recent antics, such as his call for redistribution of wealth in order to combat global warming.
Nye’s latter claim-to-fame seems mostly predicated on his former–as a kid’s television show host–rather than as an actual scientist or researcher. Except for those stuck in the ’90s and dewey-eyed Cornell freshmen, it’s hard to find anyone who actually thinks the Science Guy speaks authoritatively on any subject, especially climate change. Just earlier this month a meteorologist of 25 years experience, Dr. Roy Spencer of the University of Alabama and formerly of NASA, took to the Fox Business Network show “Stossel” to obliterate Nye’s record on global warming and climate change.
Lucky for us fellow Cornellians, Nye’s new quest to “change the world” (by removing all “deniers”?) will be captured in Kickstarter-backed documentary called “The Billy Nye Film”.
It seems the movie will consist more or less of scenes featuring the Science Guy lecturing the masses about the impending doom via man-made climate change and advocating for more government spending on space exploration.
Here’s what the two filmmakers behind the documentary have to say about their project:
“Bill Nye is on a quest to change the world, and we want you to be part of it!
Once the host of a popular kid’s show, Bill is about to take off his “Science Guy” lab coat and battle the naysayers to create a more scientifically literate and engaged universe.
We’re going to make a film about it. A film for science. A film for the cosmos. The full access, exclusive film about Bill Nye.”
The real kicker is when the filmmakers ask donors to fund their plane tickets when they are making a film about man-made climate change: “We need your support. We need to raise the funds to travel with Bill, buy plane tickets and crash in cheap hotels.”
