Almost a month after Paul Garcia was found dead in a parking lot on Maple Ave, new details have emerged about the crime-filled life of the victim. According to the Ithaca Journal, Garcia had been arrested numerous times in the past- at one point spending almost eight years in prison for multiple drug-related charges. He moved to Ithaca in 2009:
In October 2009, he pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property in Nassau County, state records said. Court papers indicate he may have moved to the Ithaca area sometime in the late summer or early fall of 2009 and landed a job at Walmart in October.
When some iPods came up missing, store asset protection employees reviewed surveillance video and saw Garcia taking them out of packages and concealing them in another area of the store, court papers state. He fled when they questioned him about it in November.
Corbin D. Whyte, the alleged murderer, is currently being charged with two counts of second-degree murder, first degree robbery, and tampering with evidence.
This really helps me keep up with going on! Do you ever do any public appearances on campus Dennis? I’d love to meet you because you seem like you’re super smart (and really good looking). Thanks for keeping me in the know about Cornell! I’m such a lucky guy!
