This Friday June 10, the Cornell Review will host a panel discussion on Cornell University’s campus climate. This Reunion Weekend event will focus on free speech issues, academic freedom, and diversity of thought at Cornell.
The event will have three guest panelists:
Professor Richard Bensel, PhD. ‘78 is the Gary S. Davis Professor of Government in the College of Arts and Sciences. His academic interests include American political development, political culture, institutional change, and philosophy of social science. Professor Bensel also serves on the Faculty Senate.
Professor Barry Strauss ‘74 is the Bryce and Edith M. Bowmar Professor in Humanistic Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. He is a classicist, military historian, best-selling author, and the Corliss Page Dean Fellow at the Hoover Institution.
Robert Platt ‘73, J.D. ‘76 is an active alumnus who served as a Cornell Trustee, class president for 10 years, fraternity alumni president and is Secretary of the Cornell Daily Sun Alumni Association. As a student, he played an active role in writing the Campus Code of Conduct and judicial system that was in place for 50 years and was active in the debate that resulted in its replacement by the new Student Code of Conduct.
